Q. I have mislaid or don't seem to have received a renewal form - what do I do?

A. Membership renewal forms are enclosed with the December newsletter each year. If you mislay it, you can go to the website and download a membership application form and use that. Mark the first page "Renewal". You don't need to get two members to sign if you are using the form as a renewal. If you don't remember getting your December newsletter with the renewal form, perhaps you haven't advised a change of address. Check with Judi at the Secretariat. If mail is returned, Judi attempts to contact the member by email or phone, but if the envelope is simply thrown away, she has no way of knowing you are no longer there. So ring or email and make sure the database is up to date.

Q. Am I eligible for the overseas membership rate if I am an overseas student?

A. To be eligible for the overseas rate (which is simply the membership fee without the GST component), you must be currently living outside Australia. You are not eligible if you are an overseas national currently living/working in Australia. As stated, the difference is the government GST amount which we must charge on fees within Australia, and then pay to the government.

Q. Why weren't any of my contact details published in the membership directory?

A. When completing either application or renewal forms, don’t forget to indicate whether you want your contact details published in the Membership Directory. You need to do this each year to have your details included (or not, as the case may be) in that year’s Directory. Because of privacy considerations, we have been given legal advice that it would not be wise to publish a member’s details without their express permission, so if not indicated, your details will not be included.

Q. Can I advertise a job on the ASI website and how much does it cost?

A. Immunology-related jobs can be advertised free of charge on the ASI website. Please e-mail the details of the job to be advertised to Judith Greer.

Q. I want to join ASI, but I can't find 2 current members to nominate me and sign the application form. What do I do?

A. If you are living in Australia or New Zealand, contact the Regional Councillor for your area, who will be able to help you. If you are not in Australia or New Zealand, please send the application form with the members signature section left blank to the Honorary Secretary.
