ASI First Nations, Māori and Pasifika Travel Award 

Launched in 2025, the ASI First Nations, Māori and Pasifika Travel Awards aims to support First Nations members in Australia, Māori and Pasifika members in New Zealand in their journey through a career in Immunology. This award will provide ASI membership and support to attend either the ASI Annual Scientific Meeting or another, immunology-related, conference. 

Application round: 
July 13th - Aug 17th 2026

Purpose

In alignment with ASI’s values of strongly promoting equity, diversity and inclusion, this award has been recently established. This award is designed to enhance the careers and collaborative opportunities for First Nations members in Australia and Māori and Pasifika members in New Zealand.  

Eligibility

• Candidates who identify as First Nations or Māori or Pasifika scientists who are based in Australia or New Zealand.
• Individuals from any stage in their career are eligible to apply.  

Application procedure

2. Include a C.V. (maximum 2 pages).
3. Combine the files into a single pdf and save your file as "LASTNAME YYYY_FMP Travel”.
4. Log in to your member profile, click on 'Applications' and follow the prompts. 
5. If you are not an ASI Member and do not have a member profile, ASI will provide complimentary ASI membership for First Nations, Māori and Pasifika scientists interested in pursuing a career in immunology. Please click here to email your application.

Assessment Criteria

• Quality of application
• Likely professional benefits of the proposed travel
• Preference will be given to those who have not received the award before

The selection of the awardee will be made by the ASI Executive committee (or their delegates). The committee reserves the right not to make an award.

Value

AUD 2000 toward travel costs for the meeting.

There will be 2 awards available.
