ASI Councillor Positions for 2022

Job Description

We are pleased to now invite nominations to ASI Council for 2022.

It's a great time to get involved with ASI. We are proud to say we've made huge strides toward achieving our strategic goals by offering our members some fantastic opportunities and creating new initiatives. We encourage your nominations if you are seeking to gain valuable experience in governance, leadership and management.  This is your chance to make a contribution to ASI, and shape the future of Immunology in our region.

Positions will commence immediately after the 2021 Annual General Meeting on Monday 6th December 2021.

To apply, nominees are asked to please complete the nomination form, include their 200 word biography, and upload to the ASI website by logging in and clicking on the 'Applications' tab.

The deadline for nominations is Tuesday Sep 21st 2021 at 23:59 EST.

Please note that current position holders may renominate.

Council positions open for nominations

Voting Council:

Vice President -  4 year total term comprising 1 year as Vice President, 2 years as President, and 1 year as Immediate Past President.
As a member of the Executive Committee, the Vice President serves as the successor to the President for 1 year.  Following the first year, the ASI President holds the main chairperson and governance role in ASI activities, meetings and general decision-making for the 2nd and 3rd years.  The 4th year is served as the Past President.

Branch / Regional Representative for ACT - 3 year term
Branch / Regional Representative for SA / NT- 3 year term
Branch / Regional Representative for WA - 3 year term

Branch Councillors represent their branch members on Council, organise local branch activities, and report financial information to the Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer.  Branch Councillors hold the central governance role for their region and are accountable for their branches.

Non-Voting Council:

FIMSA Coordinator 3 year term
Serves as the main representative of ASI at FIMSA and aims to generate international exposure for ASI at FIMSA.

IUIS Coordinator 3 year term
Serves as the main representative of ASI at IUIS and aims to generate international exposure for ASI at IUIS.

Annual Meeting Coordinator 3 year term
Liaises with Local Organising Committees of the Annual meetings to assist in the organisation of our conferences, serves as the main liaison with professional organising companies and is accountable for keeping the ASI Meeting Guidelines policy document updated.  

Social Media Coordinator 3 year term
Manages, moderates, and creates content for the ASI social media accounts.  Importantly, this position displays the highest level of professional conduct when representing ASI's best interests on social media.  

Women's Initiative Coordinator - 3 year term
Responsible for developing and organising initiatives to promote equity, diversity and inclusion.
The current Women's Initiative Coordinator role will transition to a newly-proposed role covering a broader scope called the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Coordinator and Chair of the EDI Committee.   The first 2 years will be served as the EDI Chair, and the 3rd year served as the Past Chair.


Ballot process

A ballot will be held if more than one nomination is received for any position. 
If only one nomination is received the nominee will be declared elected, unopposed.

For national positions (Vice President, FIMSA Coordinator, IUIS Coordinator, Annual Meeting Coordinator, Social Media Coordinator, Women's Initiative Coordinator) the ballot will involve all current ASI members.

For the regional / branch positions, the ballot will be organised centrally but votes will only involve members from that branch.
