Position: Sales Account Manager

GenScript have a fantastic opportunity to fill an entry level Sales Account Manager (SAM) position based in Melbourne. The SAM is responsible for implementing sales and marketing strategies and tactics for related product/service lines to help the Sales team achieve sales and profit goals for the region. The SAM is expected to use his/her knowledge of the business and external contacts to expand and deliver profitable initiatives to the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Introduce GenScript to new markets – Industrial/Diagnostic/Academic/Governmental
  • Develops sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts, soliciting new accounts, building rapport, understanding and interpreting technical requirements, providing technical information and explanations
  • Assesses competitors by analysing and summarizing competitor information and trends and identifying sales opportunities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sales strategies and tactics for products/services, new markets and new applications
  • Work together with Sales, the Key Account Managers (KAMs) and Technical Account Managers (TAMs) to ensure all possible actions are taken to secure business in competitive situations
  • Share market knowledge and customer feedback with Management, Sales and Marketing teams
  • Timely reporting to Sales and the Key Account Managers (KAMs) including documentation of sales activities via CRM system
  • Build a business reference network for business expansion
  • Develops accounts by checking customer’s buying history, suggesting related and new items, and explaining technical features
  • Updates job knowledge by studying new product descriptions and participating in educational opportunities
  • Accomplishes department and organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
  • Some domestic travel to attend events and client visits may be required

Required Skills

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in life science discipline
  • At least 1 year of hands-on lab experience. Life science research, molecular biology, protein science or related research experience is a plus
  • At least 1 year of relevant sales experience preferred with a high level of technical and professional expertise
  • Knowledge of the Australian Life Science market
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following areas considered an advantage: Gene/Protein/Antibody/Peptide Synthesis, Bioassay’s or Cell Line Products and Services
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and within a team and drive to succeed in an international business environment
