Learn more about how our critical organs keep their immunity in check at the FREE Day of Immunology Public Lecture 2024!  

Come along to hear how important sites like the brain, heart, eyes are constantly protected against threats of the world, even from birth! 

The topic will be discussed by four of Australia’s top immunologists: 

Dr Alex Davenport (WEHI) -  Using brain power for immunity 
Prof Scott Mueller (Doherty) and Prof Laura Downie (University of Melbourne) – Eye opening immunity 
Dr Jonathan Noonan (Baker Institute) -  Heart pumping immunity  
Prof Claudia Nold (Hudson) – Born this way: early life immunity 

The public lecture will be followed by a Q&A session and light refreshments.  

ℹ️ This event listing is for the Doherty Institute Public Lecture.  The Doherty Institute will also offer a Discovery Tour which precedes this Lecture.  If you wish to attend the Discovery Tour, please ensure you register separately for this here.  

Getting to the Institute:

The Doherty Institute is located at 792 Elizabeth Street, opposite the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, please enter via revolving doors at Elizabeth St entrance. Ticketed parking is available on-street and at surrounding car parking facilities.

ℹ️  If you have already registered separately for the Discovery Tour, this will conclude in the auditorium and you may stay on for the public lecture, provided you have registered separately for each event.

The purpose of the Day of Immunology is to strengthen public awareness of immunology as a basis for individual health and well-being.
Established in 2005 by the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS), the success of Day of Immunology led to it being celebrated worldwide since 2007. Under the auspices of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Immunology (ASI) and other generous sponsors, Day of Immunology has been celebrated in Victoria since 2009.
