The Australian and New Zealand Society for Immunology (ASI) strongly condemns the violent acts of war imposed by Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, resulting in the senseless death of its citizens, destruction of critical infrastructure, healthcare and academic institutions in Ukraine.
ASI abhors the thousands of lives already lost, the numerous injuries caused by Russia’s aggression, the persecution of innocent lives and the unfolding humanitarian crisis in the Ukraine. This includes disruption of Ukrainian scientists and clinicians, who are unable to advance knowledge, protect the health and improve the livelihoods of their co-citizens and live in peace and safety.
ASI stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and all those worldwide who speak out against the invasion, including our scientific colleagues. ASI fully supports the IUIS statement and AAS statement on the current war in the sovereign and democratic country of Ukraine.
