A World Health Organisation influenza expert and celebrated ASI Member, Professor Anne Kelso has been appointed the new new Chief Executive Officer of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). See full media release here
On the announcement, the Minister for Health, Sussan Ley said “Professor Kelso’s distinguished career in medical research and her track record in internationally competitive research in immunology and influenza make her an ideal choice to head up the NMHRC,”
Professor Kelso obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and PhD from the University of Melbourne and has developed significant global health experience and networks through her work with the World Health Organisation (WHO). In 2004, Prof. Kelso delivered The Burnet Oration at the ASI annual conference entitled 'Chance and necessity in the immune response'. Anne was also ASI president 1995/96 and ASI treasurer 1988-90.
