We invite nominations for ASI Council 2026

We are pleased to now invite nominations to ASI Council, for appointment after the Annual General Meeting on Dec 3rd 2025.

It's a great time to get involved with ASI. Membership numbers and engagement are at a record high for the society, as we continue to offer wonderful opportunities and create new initiatives for our members.

Positions will commence immediately after the 2025 Annual General Meeting on Dec 3rd 2025.

Eligibility

Nominees must be current ASI members and have paid their membership subscription before 1st April 2025.

How to submit a nomination

Nominations are open until Monday September 15th at 23:59 AEST for the following positions:

  • Vice President
  • VIC-TAS Branch Councillor
  • NZ Branch Councillor
  • QLD Branch Councillor
  • Deputy EDI Coordinator
  • Community Engagement Coordinator (formerly Day of Immunology Coordinator)

Nominations are to be submitted by the nominee in their ASI member portals, according to the instructions below. 

Submission Procedure

  1. Click here to download the Council nomination form.  Please note you are asked to provide a 200 word biography, which will be used during the member voting ballot process.
  2. Save your file as "LASTNAME YYYY_Council”
  3. Log in to your member profile, click on 'Applications' and follow the prompts. 

Council positions open for nominations

📌 Vice President - 4-year total term comprising 1 year as Vice President, 2 years as President, and 1 year as Past President. 
As a member of the Executive Committee, the President holds the main chairperson and governance role in ASI activities, meetings and general decision-making

📌 Branch / Regional Representative for VIC - TAS - 3-year term
📌 Branch / Regional Representative for NZ3-year term
📌 Branch / Regional Representative for QLD3-year term
Branch Councillors represent their branch members on Council, organise local branch activities, and report financial information to the Treasurers. Branch Councillors hold the main governance role for their region and are accountable for their branch activities and expenditure

📌 Deputy EDI Coordinator / Chair - 3-year total term comprising 1 year as Deputy and 2 years as Chair
The EDI Coordinator is also the Chair of the EDI Committee.  The first year will be served as the Deputy EDI Coordinator/Chair, and then the next 2 years served as the EDI Coordinator/Chair. This position is responsible for developing and organizing initiatives to promote equity, diversity and inclusion, and also ensures the broad implementation of the EDI policy. 

📌 Community Engagement Coordinator (formerly Day of Immunology Coordinator) - 3 year term
Coordinates and liaises with sub-committees during the planning and execution of public engagement events hosted by ASI. This is a rewarding role and best suited to those interested in science communication, with scope to shape the way we reach out to the broader community.

Ballot process

A ballot will be held if more than one nomination is received for any position. 
If only one nomination is received the nominee will be declared elected, unopposed.

For national positions the ballot will involve all current ASI members.
For the regional / branch positions, the ballot will be organised centrally but votes will only involve members from that branch.
