There are currently multiple opportunities available at CSIRO to join the Immune Resilience Future Science
Platform (FSP). The Immune Resilience FSP aims to harness the fundamental understanding of the immune
system to develop novel strategies and platforms that will build resilience in animals to combat disease and
parasite challenges.

Our new Immune Resilience FSP is offering exciting opportunities for CSIRO early-career researchers (CERC Fellows) to work with us across our three interconnected focus areas; vaccines, resilience technologies, and theranostics.

CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and
engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral
work experience. These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation
system.

Your duties will include:

  • Carrying out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO that will, where possible, lead to novel and important scientific outcomes.
  • Recognising and exploiting opportunities for innovation and the generation of new theoretical perspectives, and progress opportunities for the further development or creation of new lines of research.
  • Utilising design thinking methodology to plan and prepare research proposals and apply non-academic impact methodology to research projects.
  • Carrying out research investigations requiring originality, creativity, and innovation.

Location: Various, AU
Salary: AU$89k - AU$98k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Specified term of 3 years

Required Skills

To be considered you will need:

  • A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in a relevant discipline area, such as
  • virology, immunology, molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or similar.
  • Please note: To be eligible for this role you must have no more than 3 years (full-time equivalent)
  • of postdoctoral research experience.
  • High level written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent the research team
  • effectively internally and externally.
  • A sound history of publication in peer reviewed journals and/or authorship of scientific papers,
  • reports, grant applications or patents.
  • A record of science innovation and creativity, including the ability & willingness to incorporate
  • novel ideas and approaches into scientific investigations.
