Post-doctoral Researcher – Asthma

Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A) or Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level B) to lead the Asthma Node.  The main focus of this node is to investigate disease mechanisms, development and progression of asthma including severe steroid resistant asthma.  The role will have a major emphasis on investigating novel therapeutic and preventative treatments for this and possibly other chronic lung diseases. The individual must have experience in immunological, cellular and/or molecular techniques.

About you

You are a self-motivated individual, with extensive project management experience, achieving research outcomes and meeting deadlines.  You will also have experience in some of the below:

  • Doctoral Degree (or submission of degree) as it pertains to the pathogenesis of asthma/respiratory disease.
  • Ability and willingness to work with mouse and human tissues, sample collection and analysis
  • Demonstrated skills in scientific writing
  • Demonstrated experience in the pathogenesis of asthma and/or respiratory disease
  • Experience in standard laboratory techniques
  • Experience in immunological, microbiological, molecular and cellular techniques.
  • Experience in using standard research laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of research methodology, policy and requirements of asthma and health-related research

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range:

Level A: $82,158 to $100,063 pa
Level B: $109,285 to $129,345 pa

The successful applicant may be appointed at level A or B dependent on their level of expertise and experience as outlined in the essential criteria on the Position Statement.

This role also attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full time and the appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 12 months initially with the strong potential for extension on an ongoing basis. There may be multiple positions available.
